BSH 338, the June issue, hits the newsagents’ shelves on Thursday 3rd of May, and judging by some of the more extreme machines featured therein, there’s definitely a whiff, this month, of envelopes being pushed. None are more adventurous than the star of the lead article, Grobo’s big Honda one-lunger that’s probably best described as a ‘Drag Chop’, considering its quarter-mile styling cues, such as a long, low-slung stance and … a set of wheelie bars! Other unique gems include a stunning Dutch Shovelhead, a completely one-off Virago trike from the West Midlands and a very clever, be-springered Yamaha Bulldog built by Reality Motorworks in Bristol.
An oasis of comparative sanity comes in the shape of the cover/centrespread bike, Bob’s chop. The handiwork of Sickboyz Customs, this Chica-framed, Ultima-engined rigid stands as an object lesson in taste and simplicity which shows that you don’t have to possess superhuman engineering skills to make a build look, well … exactly right.
And returning to the madhouse, there’s more proof that dedicated mentalism is alive and well amongst the Finnish bike-building community in our feature on Esko’s mad, Z-framed, stressed member Yam XS650 chop. Take our word for it, seekers of the curious will not be disappointed with BSH 338.
