The annual Great Brain Ride is organised by Bikers for Neuro (BFN) and is supported this year by Birchall Blackburn Law. BFN is a free to join motorbike club that raises awareness and funds for brain, spinal injury and neurological charities.

Nick says: “We all know, or have heard of someone, who has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. In some cases, the rider simply won’t make it through and for those that do, the road to recovery can be a long and painful one. It takes time, it takes courage and for many people, life will never be the same again.

“Our activities are intended to help bikers with such injuries access resources that may help them and to ensure that they continue to feel connected with the biking community. One of the main reasons we chose to help The Brain Charity is because they support bikers throughout the UK who have suffered brain or spinal injuries. The charity has been around for 22 years and the work it does is vital.”

Dianne Yates, Partner and Head of Serious and Catastrophic Injury for Birchall Blackburn Law, says: “We know from the biker’s we’ve helped that it’s devastating if you can’t ride because of a brain injury. Overnight they lose a huge part of their life, a community and the chance to see many friends. How do you come back from that? Without BFN, the Great Brain Ride and The Brain Charity, there is a risk of former bikers becoming isolated, lonely and depressed. So, the event is vital to bikers and we’re honoured to support them.”

Nanette Mellor, CEO of The Brain Charity, says: “It’s lovely to know that under all the helmets, leather and engine roars, our bikers have such big hearts. BFN are a fantastic bunch and raise awareness, and a lot of funding, for The Brain Charity through the Great Brain Ride. We can’t thank Nick and BFN enough.

“Being diagnosed with a brain and spinal injury can be a frightening and bewildering experience. People can face unemployment, poverty, and social isolation as a result. Through the work we do, and with the support of wonderful groups like BFN and businesses like Birchall Blackburn Law, we guide people through the hard times and help them reach their potential.”
