New Royal Enfield 650 Twin

by

Royal Enfield have just released pics and info on their latest range of models powered by a new 650cc twin-cylinder.
It’s a double overhead cam, four-valve engine that stays with air-cooling (no hidden oil coolers or radiators here!), but it still passes the Euro 4 emissions regs. It has a 270-degree crank, and a balance shaft to keep any primary vibes to a minimum, and while it may not be making massive horsepower (47bhp and 38ft-lb torque), the power delivery has the same low down punch of their existing 500cc Bullet, albeit
a bit less ‘thump’ and a bit
more ‘rumble’.
The official launch in Italy displayed two new models; the Interceptor and the Continental GT – a high-barred desert racer, and a cafe racer. Both bikes will be on sale very soon, and the answer to the question on everybody’s lips is that the expected price is set to be at around six grand.
