|The donor bike was a brand new black (year 2006 spec.) Yamaha TDM900 (ABS* version) 897cc vertical twin. Converted directly to trike format before being registered in March 2007. Trike Design (formerly Hank’s Chop Shop, Caerphilly, South Wales) did the conversion with the underlying objective of keeping performance and handling as “bike-like” as possible .The project succeeded, thanks to decent engine torque and no need to alter steering.geometry, all backed up by brisk accurate handling, strong brakes and good fuel economy. ABS components, with the exception of the sensor, were removed (of necessity) in the course of conversion. The trike had two previous owners.
Gears. Six-speed manual
Drive type. Chain
Framework. A powder-coated, expertly welded tubular steel framework supports the power train from a new beefed-up X-ring chain via a blend of recycled (eg Fiesta FWD shafts) and custom-made (rear sprocket, differential) components to a pair of medium profile rear wheels mounted in a custom-built Formula-1 type fully independent and adjustable rear suspension. The incorporation of Sierra discs and Audi calipers into the rear brakes, combined with the already recognised strength of the legendary R1-type blue pot double-disc front wheel system, provides first-rate, smooth stopping power even with one finger.
MOT. MOT valid until 5th March 2020
Mileage. 12711 May 2019 Mileage at MOT 2018 12376
Wheels and tyres. Front retains original wheel, but OE Dunlop has been replaced with Continental Road Attack 2 120×70 Z2. Rear pair of AEZ 15” powder-coated steel rims, shod with Uniroyal Rallye 550 195x50R15. All tyres in good condition, with ample tread remaining
Brakes. Original bike was sold with fully active ABS, all components of which were removed for conversion to the trike, with the exception of the ABS sensor which remains next to the differential. The total of 4 big discs gives plenty of controllable stopping power.
Exhaust. Twin pipes, stainless steel, exiting through twin v-Force black stainless cans, which are certainly a degree louder and crisper in tone than the heavily damped Yamaha OE ones and are properly stamped as being passed for on-road use.

ii) Wide-angle floodlight on nearside
Together provide d-shaped, much improved illumination. Operated by rocker switch on left h’bar
Bodywork. Regular wipe-over with ACF-50 anti-corrosion, and regular winter spraying with Scott FS365 after washing off road salt, has kept things spruce. Two wild boar decals on rear wheel mudguards (easy to remove when warmed, leaving no residue).
Re-upholstered dual seat. Upgraded (with extra sculpted padding, and textured cover) and Tank-side knee grips (Self-adhesive vinyl). add extra comfort on long trips
Extended front fender. Better protects engine front surface from sprayed grit etc,
Windscreen. Taller than standard, for better foul weather protection.
Front brake pad retaining pins (s/s). Handmade items avoid risk of corrosion hindering pad renewal.
Heated grips. Oxford type, three settings.
Security. Yamaha keys (code+ ! black) controlling ignition, steering lock, seat lock and Yamaha alarm are present.
Service manuals (UK and USA). On CD.
